Resisted the Urge to Order Pizza

December 28th, 2011 at 04:23 pm

On the way home last night I thought about ordering pizza for dinner. Was just about ready to do it. But in the end, I didn't do it. I had a meatloaf in the fridge that needed to be cooked...add some mashed potatoes and baked beans and dinner was done. I was proud of myself for fixing what was there instead of bringing more junk into the house.

I haven't eaten breakfast out in two weeks either. And the scale is reflecting that. It is easy to avoid the temptation when you see results right away. I have been eating oatmeal for breakfast instead of the two croissant sandwiches each morning. No wonder I kept gaining weight. The pants I am wearing today are literally falling off of me. I looked for a belt at Walmart but they didn't have any that would go around me. Didn't think to look in the mens department while I was there. Need to find one because I don't have any smaller jeans until I lose about 40 pounds.

2 NSD's

December 27th, 2011 at 06:54 pm

Sunday and Monday of this week were NSD's. I don't know when the last time was that I had an NSD. I didn't leave the house therefore didn't have to spend anything.

My budget sucks. Right now I need $700 on the first. And since I doubt I will get rent I don't know where I am going to get it from. I don't understand this. If I was still living in the house I would have to be coming up with the mortgage by myself. Why is it so hard to come up with it now? And I make a good bit of money. I just don't get it.

Last week was the first week of my diet. I lost 2.9 pounds. I am excited for this week's weigh in on Friday. According to the scale I have lost 3 more pounds, but my official weigh isn't until Friday. I just can't help peeking!

Changes to Budget

December 21st, 2011 at 07:19 pm

I have had to make some major changes to my budget due to the renters not paying rent. I don't know what I am going to do the first of the month. My mom told me that she thought I did the right thing by giving the renters more time since it is Christmas and all. I hope she still feels that way when I have to hit her up for money on the first of the month.

Have to take my daughter Christmas shopping tonight plus pick up some groceries for my mom. Probably won't get home until after nine. So much for a relaxing evening.

New iPad for me

December 20th, 2011 at 01:45 am

My boss gave me my Christmas present today. It was an iPad. I am thrilled. Have been on it all night. It is way cool.

Renters don't have rent money yet. He has been out of work due to the weather. They did make a partial payment. I aM going to have to rework my budget. Hopefully things will get better soon.

Grocery Shopping and New Goal

December 16th, 2011 at 05:49 pm

I went to the grocery store last night. I had budgeted $150 and spent $190. I really didn't need that much but it seems that whenever I go to the grocery store I can't help myself from buying what we don't need. I didn't get any junk food though so that is a plus. Maybe I should up my budgeted amount. Any suggestions on how I can keep from spending so much at the store(not coupons or anything like that...have tried and take too much time for the amount you save.) I think it is because for so many years I didn't budget for the grocery store and I wasn't able to spend money on groceries. I am in a better place now so I tend to spend more.

I have made a new goal, not financial though. I am going to try my best to lose 1 pound a week. I think I can do it. I have started taking my thryoid medication again so that should get under control. I also bought oatmeal to have for breakfast at work. I plan to wein myself off the dr pepper I have every morning. Get a large now, will reduce to med and then to small. I will attempt to drink more water. I also plan to walk on the treadmill as much as I can tolerate. My shins start hurting after I have been walking for about 5 minutes. I know that will get better as I build up my resistance. I have got to do something...I am outgrowing my clothes and not in a good way. I need you guys to cheer me on.

6.36

December 13th, 2011 at 07:49 pm

This is the amount in my checking account until Friday when I get paid. Cutting it pretty close, not as close as last time when I had 80-something cents.

I made an executive decision and took myself and my coworker out to lunch today on the company. We were out looking at offices because we need a larger space. Chick-Fil-A. Yum.

Told the renters that if they don't have the rent on Friday I am going to have to start eviction proceedings. I hate to do that at Christmas but I am not going to let them get as far behind as the last renters. I understand that his business is slow this time of year but I had to borrow money to make the mortgage payment. I need to pay that back. Sure hope I am not being screwed again.

Lower Prescription Cost

December 8th, 2011 at 06:45 pm

I budget $132 each month for my prescriptions. When I went to the pharmacy on the first this month, my cost had gone down. One of the items is now available in generic. YIPPEE!! Now it costs $87 for all of my prescriptions. After the first of the year I will probably take the difference and put it in my emergency fund. Can't do that right now because I need every extra dollar for Christmas.

Free Lunch

December 5th, 2011 at 09:18 pm

Tomorrow is my birthday so my boss took me out to lunch today. He will be on his way to Denver tomorrow. we went to Longhorn. Very Yummy.

Renters don't have rent money for me. Didn't see it coming. They are supposed to have it Friday. I told them this can't happen again. I sure hope it isn't a view of whats to come.

Have to borrow money from my mom to pay the mortgage. Will be able to pay it back on Friday when they pay me.

Called to find out how much my car tag is and it was only $79. I budgeted $150. So that was awesome!

Why I Love Banking with SunTrust And the New Car

December 1st, 2011 at 08:52 pm

I noticed today that I was charged the new $7 monthly fee for one of my checking accounts. This fee was supposed to be waived if I had direct deposit in the amount of at least $100. So I had changed my direct deposit to put $55 in there each pay period, which would cover the $100. When I called them to inquire about the fee, I was told that it had to be $100 at a time. Okay. So I went in and changed my direct deposit to put $100 in that account each pay period. I can then transfer it out to my main checking account. End of story...wrong. About 2 hours later I get a call from the branch manager that they were going to refund me that service charge for this month. I just love that they took the time to call me back and are crediting the fee without any pushing for me. Now I realize that most SunTrusts probably don't have this type of customer service, but for my small little branch in Blue Ridge, GA, they know me by name. So when I call and say this is Amy (*&))*( they know who they are talking to. They greet me by name whenever I have to go into the bank. No other bank in this area does that. I just love banking with my small Suntrust Branch.

My son bought a new car last week. Well...new to him. He bought a 2008 chevrolet aveo. He loves it. This is the first dependable car he has had. This is his fifth car and he is only 19! But he decided to stop trying to get a car cheap and bit the bullet. He now has a car payment and insurance to pay. But I feel better too knowing that he has something dependable. When we went to test drive the car, the battery was dead. So the salesman jumped it off. After we purchased the car, the salesman told us that if we had any problem with the battery to let him know and he would put a new one in it. We it wouldn't start again. DS took the car back to the dealership and guess what! They actually gave him a new battery! I was really impressed with this dealership compared to where I bought my car. They didn't even fill the car up with gas! This dealership filled it with gas and really seemed to care. Unusual for a car dealership, but this is a small town. Too bad the ford dealership in town isn't like that.

Financially Disappointing Year

December 1st, 2011 at 04:32 pm

I can't believe it is December already. This year hasn't been so great financially. I didn't get anything paid off. I am in the same position that I was in last December. That is really depressing. Hopefully next year will be better since I have gotten good renters in the house.

My budget for the next few weeks is looking good. If all goes well I will be back on track mid January. Send positive thoughts my way!
