Dreary June Financials

July 3rd, 2016 at 02:31 pm

Well...at least I paid my bills and didn't have to beg, borrow or steal to do so. But I didn't do as well as I would have liked. I am extremely disappointed with the amount of money I spend on food. Between eating out and groceries I spent an outrageous amount of money. I am working on eating out by taking my lunch to work. But pizza was my down fall last month. I ordered pizza like 6 times. Must make an effort not to do that. If I could just get the eating out number down, I would be happy. I did manage to put $40 into my savings account.

I haven't heard from plastic surgeon and suspect that I won't. I made it clear that if insurance didn't pay I couldn't do anything.

I fell up the stairs yesterday which really hurt. But the drainage has stopped and I wasn't in pain...

I finally admitted to myself yesterday that my company is in serious trouble and I might not have a job much longer. The owner was counting on a SBA loan to save us, but we found out we don't qualify for it. I don't know what is going to happen. My boss(who happens to the owners daughter) is leaving the company. I knew this was going to happen. They tried to grow too quickly. But my boss said that she knows something I don't and that I will be okay if my company folds. I think she means that I will have a job where she is going, which is a company that I have a long standing relationship with. I don't know what that will entail but I am scared that it will mean driving to Atlanta, about 2 hours away. We shall see what happens.

I hope it all works out with the job. Are you looking elsewhere for work?

Not really...I can't find another job up here making what I make. And I would hate to take that hit if everything works out for my company.

I think you did great being able to pay your bills (and continue working) after a surgery and while in pain.

Have you thought about buying frozen pizza when it is on sale and keeping it on hand for those times when the pizza cravings hit?

Don't beat yourself up over the pizza. You were still recovering from surgery, so it's understandable that cookingwas not on your agenda. While ordering out a lot can get expensive, maybe buying some frozen pizzas would still be less time consuming and not so expensive. Just a thought.

Sorry about your fall. And equally sorry about the prospect of your company closing. Yikes!

I think the frozen pizza ideas are good ones. Planning meals ahead also helps, but I realize you are still recovering so you need to take it easy. Maybe find something else to cut to make up for the pizza expenses.

I would trust your instincts about a possible upcoming job loss and start preparing now. I would get serious about cutting out the pizzas and try to shore up as much cash on hand as possible, to tide you by should you suddenly become unemployed.

Recovering from surgery, by yourself no less, is not easy. July is pretty fresh and you can make your eating out improvements now. I third the suggestion to buy frozen pizza, and even some other frozen "junk" food. If you are going to eat take-out anyway, you might as well eat it from your freezer and save some money. I have started to keep a few not so healthy but quick and tasty meals in the freezer. Because I have admitted to myself that when I crave something quick and not healthy, I'm not going to magically turn around and make myself a salad.

Would you move to Atlanta rather than stay put?

Living...no I would have to stay here as my mom and my sister are here...they rely on me for grocery shopping and transporation.

Can you buy some frozen pizzas and other things like it at the store? Then, you can just cook them in the oven. They are a lot cheaper than ordering one.
