Hi Guys!

May 26th, 2014 at 02:07 pm

Hi everyone! I am sorry I haven't posted in a while. I made some really bad financial choices and have been embarrassed to admit them. But I am digging myself out one month at a time and if I can just hold on until October I think I will be back to where I was.

I was recently diagnosed as diabetic. It is in my family and since I am overweight it is not really a shock. I am trying to manage it through diet and exercise right now. I go to the doctor on Thursday and will probably have to go on a prescription. The diagnosis has increased my grocery budget. Eating right is not cheap. DD has really stepped up to help motivate me to get it under control.

Well...that is about all going on with me. I hope you have been well. I have missed you all.

So glad to hear from you! Glad to see that your back. We all can slip and slide up and down the "good financial decisions" continuum. Hope that you're feeling better with things, and that you keep on the diet and exercise bandwagon! Smile

My favorite breakfast food right now is chobani yogurt and granola mixed in...of course I don't know if that is a good decision for a diabetic, but it keeps me full and it tastes good! I'm glad you daughter is helping you...she wants you to be around a long time.

    Glad you are back!

Sorry about the diagnosis, but fortunately modern medicine makes the disease far more manageable.

Because I could not get my cholesterol down with diet and exercise, I was put on medicine. A side effect was the raising of my blood sugar, so I have to really watch what I eat and it is difficult, especially since I dearly love breads. Hang in there!

Glad to see you back. Sorry about the diagnosis but you might as well 'make lemonade out of the lemon' life has handed you. You can control fat, sugar, salt best with home made meals. Cooked, well drained barley + any chopped vegetables you'll eat or sliced, fresh fruit and fav spices are great take it with you, lunch. Exercise is a huge control factor so make lunch hour a pleasant walk. Stay out of the stores and live in the sunshine by visiting the parks or free entertainment in your community. The more exercise you can get involved in, the more likely you'll keep Rx and related costs away from you. Make yourself happy.

Hope you'll continue to post so we can continue to cheer your every baby step forward.
