After looking at the numbers last month, I vow to do better this month. I was horrified at the amount of money i spent eating out. I am apparently not the type of person that can eat out once in a while. It just leads me down the road to more bad habits. My grocery spending was down this month by about $100. I will post the full results for last month shortly.

My best friend is that way about EVERYthing. He had a really hard time moderating smoking and then quitting smoking but finally did it on his like 20th attempt. But he definitely couldn't be the "once in a while" type of smoker. Same with drinking -- it got heavier and heavier, and attempts to be moderate failed, so he finally just quit drinking completely -- it was the only way he could avoid drinking too much. It's so much harder with food stuff if you have this kind of "all or nothing" personality because you can't just "quit" eating -- that is one area where you have to figure out how to be moderate. He still struggles with that -- both with the overspending side and the food-bingeing side.
So -- I just wanted to say I've seen this type of struggle up close and I sympathize with how hard it is. Good luck finding a balance!
