September No Eating Out Month Challenge

August 28th, 2012 at 02:10 pm

I have decided to make the month of September a no eating out month. Any one want to join me? I am excited because for July I spent $358 eating out and so far for August I have spent $33.00. What a huge difference! I didn't think I had it in me to make such a huge change!

Yesterday was a NSD. My DD wanted some cucumbers but I made her buy them herself. I went to Starbucks yesterday but used a gift card my boss had given me. Today I have to get gas and milk.

I had to give my son $20 yesterday to reimburse him for things at the rental house. I don't count that account in the NSD's. I miscalculated how much i would have for the week. I have $60 left for two weeks. I wanted to buy a new mop but I guess that will have to wait until next payday.

No Eating Out: 25/27 (30/32 total)
tracking food: 9/27
NSD: 8/27

Sounds like a great plan! I don't know that I can commit to the whole month, but I rarely eat out...so I'm with ya!

I love how much extra money in your pocket that no eating out has done for you. Convenience is expensive!!

I don't know that I can make it the whole month either but I am going to try!

Take a bow, August was a wonderful achievement and I'm sure you'll meet your September challenge which also helps your WW program since you'll know there are no hidden calories/chemicals in the meals made at home. It helps to use Sunday to prep a couple of meals in advance for days that are too busy or you feel tired to avoid that horrid 'what can I make' feeling as you walk through the door.

Count on my support, we hardly eat out since SIL & I are both cancer survivors and try to avoid junk foods/preservatives.

I will participate except I will be traveling home and our 34th anniversary and DH's birthday are both in September. We rarely eat out so it is not that much of a stretch! I will start participating 09/15 and go through 10/15!

I'll try! We hardly ever eat out, but sometimes it comes up. If I can avoid, I will, and I'm going to include drinks (both coffee and alcohol). My only exception will be buying a drink or two at weekly trivia.

Wait, alchohol counts as eating out?! It's okay, I'm still in Smile

I very rarely eat out either .. although I do sometimes get subs from Blimpies or an egg salad sandwich from the local mom and pop store. I think I can go a month without doing either one. Smile

You did so well this month! Eating at home really does just make a huge difference. And of course I'll join you in the trying not to eat out for September bandwagon. I've got two sets of eyeglasses to pay for in the next 3 months so I really don't need to be wasting extra money on eating out.

LOL, mamasita. I was just thinking from a spending POV. I'll still have drinks at home. Smile
