Thought today Would be a NSD

August 15th, 2012 at 02:48 pm

But I was wrong. I paid my internet/phone/cable bill today as well as a medical expense and the water bill. I was so hoping today would be a NSD.

Went to the grocery store last night. Had to get dog food and milk for my sister. My dd also needed shampoo and conditioner and I needed toothpaste. Also had to get my sister milk. We spent $45 but sister paid me back $5.

Speaking of Sister...she moved up here about a year ago. She doesn't have her license and she never got tags for her car when she bought it almost 3 years ago. The car is now parked at my mom's house. Since she doesn't have a license she asks me about twice a week to get her milk. My mom takes her to grocery store about every other week. Neither my mom nor I can figure out why she doesn't get her license back. It was suspended for no insurance but she has got plenty of money now to get insurance and her license. I think she is content having other people take her everywhere.

School starts on Friday for DS. My days of sleeping late are numbered. Bummer.

no eating out: 14/14 (19/19 total)

Why don't you ask your sister what's going on? Maybe she needs someone to shake it up a bit?

Some people don't like to drive and have anxiety about it. Is that it? It's nice of you to help her in that simple way, assuming it is something you want to do.

At least no shopping today or eating out thus far...almost a NSD in my book. I don't know if I'd count routine bills. Your choice, of course!

Interesting - you have car problems sometimes, and are probably thinking about another car (maybe), but sister's car is currently a driveway door stop. Truly unused capacity here. There's a solution here - if sister truly does not want to drive, perhaps she can sell her car to you... assuming the car runs okay. Or a different solution. But you probably would want to resolve it in some fashion.

Just to play devil's advocate here:

    shampoo
    conditioner
    toothpaste
    milk
    dog food

How does this equal $45? I get $8 ($10 max) before adding the dog food in. And if she's paying you $5 for the milk and the dog food, I can't image the dog food is $35 a bag.

I'm also curious about the various items that amounted to $45.00 ...... I'm curious if cigarettes helped to bring the amount up to $45.00?

No I didn't buy any cigerettes. The items we got were just expensive. I too did a double take when the cashier told me the total and I checked the receipt carefully.

Okay, not to rag on you, but I feel like this is maybe part of your issue? Let's assume that you didn't realize that you were buying $10 shampoo until you got to the cashier. Why did you finish checking out? Why did you not go back and swap out your $10 shampoo for some $2 Suave? Can you share exactly what all these things cost? Did you compare prices before you piked them up off the shelf? When you are budgeting yourself down to the penny, you need to be aware of these things. That's a half a tank of gas poured onto the floor, for example. That's two or three items of clothing. That's at least a few WW meetings. All thrown away on something that should have cost you $10.

I'm REALLY not trying to be hard on you, but do you see the disconnect there? You're pinching every penny, losing sleep because you have to evict renters and borrow money from your mother and your sisters. Yet you waste $45 for no reason at all.
