2 steps forward...3 steps back

December 15th, 2008 at 02:20 pm

I don't know how I am going to make it through this week. If I don't get some money to put into my account, my checking account will be come overdrawn. In the past, I would simply ask my parents for the money who would gladly give it to me. But since I have "grown up" over the last couple of years, I have started to resent having to do that. We are not talking alot of money, but I needed gas on Friday and didn't realize my account was so low.

I had been doing so well...not eating out and budgeting for things. But today I m discouraged. I usually try to post something positive, some accomplishment. But I can't think of one today. I haven't eaten breakfast out in weeks and I still don't feel like it has made a difference.

Is there another family member or friend that you can borrow from (that you haven't borrowed from in the past)? I don't know if you're talking about $20 or $50, but it would be a lot easier to owe someone the cash than to have to come up with the cash plus the overdraft fee. Anything you can put on Craigslist and sell quickly? I'm not sure what else to suggest, but keep your chin up. You probably just forgot some expense to budget for, and that resulted in the shortage. It's always a work-in-progress, and just think how much worse it would have been if you had continued to eat breakfast out.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have been racking my brain to think of something that I could sell quickly on Craiglist or Ebay. I have a good supply of Longaberger Baskets...I have tried to sell them in the past and haven't had any luck. My husband just listed a motorcycle, but not sure when/if that will sell. If I have to borrow from parents...the good thing is that I have started paying them back everytime I borrow so they know they will get it. In the past I would never be able to repay it.

It is a "work in progress" like someone else said. I have been working hard for 2 months and am still adjusting things and getting frustrated! Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Hang in there Sunshine. I know it doesn't seem like cutting out eating out isn't helping, but every little bit helps.

My mama gave me some good advice years ago. She said, "Things always work out", and I have found that to be true. Keep us posted!!

Have you bought anything recently that you can return to the store for cash back. With the holidays here, I am sure you must have bought something for a relative that you can return for the money, then rebuy it (before the holiday) when you have money next.
