Budget looking good

February 9th, 2010 at 05:24 pm

Well, I have started packing, but now I just need to continue. I didn't pack anything last night...but my daughter packed up a lot of her room. We took my parents by the house last night and let them look around the inside. They are impressed with the house. I am excited and can't wait to get moved in.

In financial news...my budget it looking good until the end of february. There are some expenses coming up but I think I have them covered. I filed my taxes and am waiting on my refund. I already received my state refund, just waiting on the Federal.

Coupon Savings

I went to Food Lion and Ingles last night. I got $200 worth of food for $100! I feel great about this trip. Got stuff we actually eat! I have to go back Friday for the 3 day sale at Food Lion. They have Bacon for .99!!!

My budget is looking good until January. I have it planned...and we allknow what happens to plans! Anyway, I hope to stick close to it. We shall see.

All my utilities were paid on time this month! YEA!! That is a big relief. No if I can stay on top of this and get some money saved I would feel even better!

Not So Little Surprises!!

September 11th, 2009 at 02:30 pm

Well, I have been working on my budget and all is going well. I needed to come up with something like $180 by the 20th in order for it to work out. BUT WAIT!!!!

DS tells me last night that he is close to not being allowed to charge lunches anymore at school because of his balance. Had to write him a check for $40 to cover balance plus a few more days. And I wrote a check at Ingles last night for dog food and cat food. And we needed Sudafed to fight the seasonal allergies! DH also "borrowed" some money for gas since he started a new job. I don't know that I will get it back this week. So all told, I now need to come up with $300! So I will have to do some major reconstructiong. Might have to borrow some from my mom because the items to paid can't be put off until the next payday...but I can pay her back on that next payday. UGGGGG!!! I can't wait to get to a point where I have a cushion for these surprises. I try to plan for everything, even the unexpected, but some weeks, like this one, I just can't build that "extra" into the budget.

Monthly Challenge Update

November 19th, 2008 at 08:15 pm

So far I have not stopped for breakfast any day this week. That means that I have saved $3.57 per day for 3 days. That comes to 10.71 so far this week that I haven't spent that I normally do.

AND...my daughter wanted to stop at McDonalds yesterday on the way home but since I already knew what we were having for dinner and it was all planned, I told her no. Savings = $12(roughly for the whole family to eat)

BUT...I did stop to get bagels and cream cheese to keep at work. Including my impluse buy of donuts while at Ingles, I spent $12.43. So I am still $1.72 in the hole for breakfast this week, but I don't have to get breakfast for the next two days(or next week since it is a short week), so that should put me over the top. The McDonalds denial last night however puts the total for the week at $10.28 that I have made a concious decision not to spend.

GO ME!

Saved 6.07 today

I was tempted to stop at Taco Bell on the way home from dropping my son off. I tried to talk myself into it...I am the only one home and surely that $6 won't make that big of difference. But in the end, I didn't stop. I came home and in the process of finding something to eat.

YEAH for me!

Monthly Challenge to Myself

November 11th, 2008 at 08:43 pm

I would like to save at least $3 per day...not necessarily into a savings account, but by not purchasing something. Some days I don't purchase items, but most days I do. At the end of each month, I will total what I have saved(not spent) to see what I have been able to do.
