Latest Animals to Show Up At My House

September 19th, 2013 at 02:26 pm

Guess what I came home to last night!!!

That is right. Wild turkeys. But they aren't really wild because they aren't scared of people. They don't run from us. In fact, they almost wouldn't let us in the house last night. I live in downtown Blue Ridge...what are turkeys doing roaming here? When I lived outside of town I never saw a turkey. WTH?

My mom thinks someone is dropping animals off at my house. Makes sense since these turkeys are obviously tame. But why my house? And what is next??? I have made a few calls and one lady said I could release them on her property but I would have to catch them. And I really have no way to transport them. We called DNR and they gave us some other numbers to call which is how I found the other lady.

OH and did I mention that one of them has a broken leg? Yep...it is turned completely around backwards. Kind of gross to watch it walk.

My budget is doing well...fortunately turkeys don't tug at my heartstrings like kittens do so there won't be any trips to the vet. Tomorrow is payday. Everything is already set up so there is nothing to take care of. I can't wait for paydays to officially see the progress I made. Then I can't wait for the next one. And so on. It is a vicious cycle.

Oh well...that is about all for now. Bob Hannah's wild kingdom signing off...

When I lived in North Carolina I was once chased by wild turkeys. I don't know if they are tame or just very bold!

That post made me smile~ I don't know why, but I find it all very amusing ... wild turkeys ... not where I live. We have the occasional sighting of a fox or a coyote ...

I find it humorous too Laura...what is the point in getting upset about it?

    Oh my - always something!!

We have tons of turkeys by my office. They are kind of big and scary. They crack me up sometimes during tax season, because I work near a busy intersection and a freeway intersection. So I am used to hearing crazy people and screeching tires and horns and loud music and so on. Once in a while I will just hear this "gobble gobble" when they fly over by my office window. It's just so random. Big Grin

You realize, of course, that you have an opportunity here to prepare for Thanksgiving early. You catch em and find a butcher who does wild game. Have him give you too and take one in payment.

    Kittens are cuter.
