Down Graded my Satelitte Package

August 28th, 2013 at 06:29 pm

My son convinced me that I watch way too much tv so I called today to cancel my satellite package. But they said they had a package that was nothing but local channels so I would still get some of the shows I like to watch. It will save me $50 a month on the bill.

I started back on my diet today. So far it is going okay. I left my drops at home but that is okay. I will make them up this evening.

Nice! A $50 savings per month will sure help with the shortfall you have each month.

awesome! great to save the money and watching less t.v. might help a little with the depression, too.

I take it that you are still paying for satalite then for only local channels, if I understand the post correctly. Couldn't you just buy a pair of rabbir ears and a converter box (if needed) and get the same local channels without the monthly cost? I do this at home. I don't pay any monthly fee and still get all of my local channels. Might be something to look in to.

That's a big chunk of change. Congrats on that decision!

At the risk of sounding like an old fuddy duddy, when I was a kid (like 30-35 years ago) the cost of watching TV was:

    1) the TV
    2) an antenna

    and I guess

    3) the commercials, although you still have those with satellite and cable

We lived in the country(and still do), and cable was not an option. I guess satellite became an option when I was 10-12, but it was horribly expensive, or at least it was according to my parents.

My point is, it's sickening to think about TV being a monthly bill now, when it was darn near close to free (on a monthly basis, anyway) not very long ago.

Anyway, kudos to you for cutting that cost.

Do you pay for internet access? I don't own a TV but I can get TV shows through sites like Hulu for free on my computer.

Sorry to read about all the kitten drama. I hope it's all taken care of now.
