Renters Haven't left yet

August 9th, 2012 at 01:55 pm

My daughter wanted to get subway last night. She paid for it with her own money. I came home and ate a bowl of cereal.

Went to check if the renters had moved out. They still have a ton of stuff there! DS called him to let him know that we would be changing the locks today. The renter asked to have until this evening and DS told him that was fine. So I will have the locks changed tomorrow evening. DS is going to meet the handy man there to do it. I have tried to change the locks before and couldn't do it. But I will have to buy 4 new locks, 2 door knob locks and two deadbolts. Probably be about $60. And then I will have to pay the handy man. I also think that the renters are going to leave a bunch of junk that I will have to have removed. That will cost about $150. Can't wait to get my DS in there an actually get some income from that place!

Congrats on the cereal meal. I think you should stock some nicer frozen meals or individually frozen chicken breasts to be ready for busy nights. I hope everything goes ok with your renters.

It's not like your renters didn't know when the deadline was. Do not give them any more time! Am I understanding that your DS is going to be your renter now? I hope he is much more reliable!!

Whatever the cost to change the locks , to try to collect for back rent and clean up. I'm so disgusted that people get away with their rip-offs, have the gall to ask for an extension and Get It! If they were folks in dire circumstances, they would have kept in touch with you, explained the problems and worked with you towards a solution.

Tip of the hat for sticking with your plan to eat at home. The cereal was likely healthier than sodium drenched Subway fare. Great idea to keep frozen chicken breasts at hand for a quickie meal when you're tired.

Sorry, sentences got lost...I suggest trying to collect back rent and clean-up costs from employer or whoever is funding those deadbeats.

You do not need to buy all new hardware(ie door knob, etc) the locksmith can just rekey the lock (change the tumbler) and it is cheaper - so keep the hardware and as the locksmith to rekey the locks due to new renters.
