Went by rental property

November 1st, 2011 at 08:05 am

I went by the rental property last night and the renters are in the process of moving out. They weren't there but there was a car in the driveway and most of their furniture is gone. They still have until Wednesday to get the rest of their stuff. There is a big pile of trash in the yard. Apparently they haven't been taking their trash to the dump and instead have just been piling it in the yard. I will most likely have to deal with that. Lucky me. At least they have moved out. It amazes me that once they were told they had to move they most likely came up with security and rent for another place when they could have just paid me and not had to move. Just more proof that they were using me.

I have to call today to put an ad back in the paper.

I'm glad they are finally getting out of the place. I hope you don't have to spend too much money to get it rent-able again. When's the last time you've seen the inside of the place?

Is it still for sale, too?

I'm glad you went by the house and things seem to be moving in the right direction.

It would likely be a good idea to put it up for sale, in addition to rent. You can always say no to a low offer.

I know I need to put it up for sale but I just am not ready to do that. It was the last place where I was truly happy and I can see myself wanting to live there again.

BB...I went in yesterday and it looks okay.

So glad that the renters are leaving. They were probably just going to sneak out., so rude. I hope that you are able to find a relaible renter soon. I don"t remember, did you say this is a mobile home? Good luck..

What a disgusting display, I am really sorry that these people have been like that to you, and that their thoughtlessness leads to frustration for you. You deserve better in that regard, but at least they are getting out! (I don't suppose they tried to use you as a reference for their next rental fiasco?) I hope that you have some insurance of better tenants this time around...

While it sucks that your tenants are putting you through this, at least they are moving out on their own without you having to go through the courts to have them removed.

Next time please do a background/reference check on prospective tenants. Its much better to leave it empty for an extra month than put up with another couple like this one. I used a service for this that cost only $25.95.

Also, I think that you technically are not allowed to enter the home without the tenants' prior consent (or a court order), even though they are behind on their rent, so I would be careful, and don't let them know you entered.
