Went to the Grocery Store at lunch

June 30th, 2011 at 06:44 pm

I had to pick up more bagels to keep here at work. I was completely of them. I also got a box of Stouffers french bread pizzas. I just love them. Is it considered eating out even though I got it at the grocery store?

I then broke down and got a dr pepper from Burger King. it is a dollar more than at Mcdonald's but it is so much better than McDonalds Dr Pepper is. Funny how you can tell the difference in different peoples fountain drinks. I am sure it has to do with the amount of carbonation vs syrup. Whatever...burger king wins hands down. Tomorrow I will be back on the McDonald's sodas.

Thinking about dinner tonight...since I failed to take something out of the freezer. A co-worker had tomato soup for lunch and now I am kind of craving it. So I think we will have grilled cheese and tomato soup. Problem solved.

I don't consider buying things from the grocery store eating out. Nice choice for dinner Smile

I definitely would have done something more affordable.

Did you buy packaged bagels or ones from the bakery? Where we shop, they are only $3 per dozen of bagels at the bakery, and not only are they much better, but also larger and more healthy.

The pre-packaged bread sticks are most definitely a no-no. They are very easily-made and much more satisfying homemade! As well as healthier!

Soda... Ouch. Dr. Pepper is by far my favourite soda. However, consider what you're putting into your system! High Fructose Corn Syrup is the first ingredient listed for that soda. I would have gone with a Peace Tea (Google them - awesome drinks!), a Perrier or San Pellegrino, or some good old fashioned water! I save loads using my

bobble than buying bottled water or a less healthy beverage.

Good luck! Grilled cheese and tomato soup sounds yummy! Pesto on the grilled cheese and basil and garlic in the low sodium tomato soup!

I think it's all relative. If you're looking to save money over eating out, frozen prepared food from the grocery store will typically be cheaper (and helpful if you feel like you don't have the energy to cook). Preparing meals from scratch can be even cheaper if you're careful about what meals/ingredients you choose. (Of course that takes more planning, researching and cooking, so there's a time-cost analysis to be done on the value of your time and energy.)

Your McDonald's Dr. Pepper tastes funny because McDonald's serves Mr. Pibb (a Coke product), but they don't tell you that when you order a Dr. Pepper (a Pepsi product). They just give you the Mr. Pibb.

I don't think buying food from the grocery store is like buying it from a fast food place. Even frozen meals. And it is generally a cheaper alternative. One TV dinner usually costs far less than a fast food meal by a couple bucks. And those frozen pizza slices (I love the French bread ones that Red Baron does) are definitely cheaper than getting it by the slice somewhere else.

We had BLT's and watermelon for dinner. We used turkey bacon, since that is our preferrence. It was quick and nice not to turn on the oven.

You are doing better! Keep up the good work.

LR...I checked this morning and my McDonalds actually sells dr pepper, not mr pibb. It was on their sign.

I ended up having a bowl of cereal for dinner and later some black eyed peas over some rice. Weird combination i know...but saw someone on TV eating rice and that spurred my craving.

Huh, that's weird. Doesn't your McD's carry Coke products? I thought it was the same nationwide.

Yes they sell coke...dr pepper is actually owned by Nabisco or something like that. It isn't a pepsi or coke product any more...at least that is what the drug store tells me when it isn't on sale with either the coke or pepsi products./
