The War Rages On and Fed Refund

March 3rd, 2011 at 03:32 pm

The war against lice rages on in my house. We treated again last night. I bought new pillows. We washed all the sheets and comforters. Spent $49 at walmart for treatment, pillows and pillow cases. We just can't seem to get rid of them. DD found hardly any in my hair but I found a TON in her hair. The nasty little creatures just refuse to die! At least most of the ones I found on her were dead.

I went online to check my refund status and due to processing delays, it is now expected to be paid March 15. That is huge problem for me since I have too many expenses that are due on the 11th. It was supposed to have been paid on the 4th, which was in plenty of time for the other expenses. Now I am not sure what I am going to do. But I will figure it out...I always do. If ex would have the $1000 he owes me, I would be in the clear! I am still torn about that. If I evict him for non payment, I doubt that I will get anyone in there to pay the mortgage. Right now I feel the smarter thing to do is to let him stay and get the money a little at a time, as opposed to no money at all. He said that he should have money for me today. But I can't get in touch with him to find out for sure.

Found out that the cheer competition doesn't start for us until 4:00 on Saturday. That means that I can cancel the hotel for Friday night and drive over Saturday morning. I am riding with one of the other mom's since I still don't have a car. I put the $150 I saved for the hotel room in my EF.

I so, so sympathize. My mom babysits tons of kids, and she had some nasty outbreaks when I was in high school and college. I can still remember the smell of the shampoo, and the embarrassment of having to check my friends' and boyfriend's hair (yes, some of them caught it too). It can be so persistent, and it makes you all itchy and paranoid for months after they're finally gone, before you finally start to believe you've eliminated them!

Oh, and I HATE how their eggs stick to strands of hair. *Shudder.* I'm sending all positive vibes and best wishes to you! They will go away eventually! Did you get the furniture spray as well as the shampoo?

I totally understand! DD had them a few months back. Like I commented before Botanical Gold works. I was going crazy wanting to get rid of them. I know it sounds hokey, but it really works. It is very safe and a good de-greaser. I use it on baby's bottles and his highchair tray. I also use it on the stove top to cut the grease. You order it online.

Mix half solution and half water in a spray bottle. Thoroughly soak the head and hair. Leave on 30-40 minutes. I also combed during this time too. Be sure to use a metal toothed comb, they work the best. You can do this every night. We did it every other night for two weeks. Then a couple spot treatments. We haven't had those buggers back. Big Grin Good luck!

My DDs kindergarten checks hair every week (we live overseas, which could lead to a higher incidence) and so far so good, knock on wood. However, they did let a little girl with chicken pox in last month, and sure enough, we got nailed with it... there's just no insurance against this, no matter how clean you are! Good luck...
