No Heat Challenge...built a fire

SInce it has been so cold in the mornings, we built a fire last night, closed the doors on it and let it simmer. When we got up this morning, it was comfortable in here. We have the fire going now and it is taking the chill off. It is only supposed to get up to 69 today, which isn't that cold, but the house never seems to warm up. By builing the fire, we haven't had to turn the heat on yet! I am hoping to keep this up for a while! Maybe through October...Would love to not have to turn the heat on!!!

    I am there with you - but for us it's about keeping the AIR CONDITIONING off. It's been in the 90s, so we shut it off, have the ceiling fans going, and have two other fans plugged in with the windows open. So far...we haven't melted! lol... Stay warm!!

    What kind of insulation do you have in your attic? Is it time to beef that up?

    Or, you could be like we used to be - with horrid windows. Once we got those replaced, our living room is actually livable when the temp drops!
