Christmas Bonus?

Still waiting to see if we will get a bonus this year. At this point it wouldn't be a Christmas bonus but an end of the year bonus.

We had the office Christmas party last Friday. We all got Ipad Mini's. He left the receipt on them so that we can exchange it if we want. I am giving mine to my son for Christmas.

I hope that isn't all we are getting. We had the best year we have had since I have been here (7 years). I know I am probably sounding greedy or ungrateful but I am just hoping for more. I can live without it, I have my budget done for the next couple of months but it would be nice to pay off a credit card or two early.

    Could the iPad Mini been returned for cash or merchandise credit that could be spent in other ways? Those cost between $215 and $400 depending on model. It seems like a generous gift to me. Have you ever received a larger bonus from this company?

    I had bought my son a cheaper tablet that I am returning so that will net me about $200 saved. Last year we got a 2k bonus. So this year I was kind of hoping for the same. or even a little less.

    Oh yes, if last year was such a big amount and it was a good year I can see your disappointment. Hope there is something more for you. If not, you will just keep moving forward! It's all that you can do.

    I'm rooting for you! Haven't seen anything in the way of a bonus from my company either; usually they give us a hundred bucks or so on a gift card. They haven't mentioned a holiday get-together either; usually they cater some food or host something at a fancy restaurant. Oh well. We haven't done especially well (or badly) this year. Maybe they've just decided to skip it, or do something in January (which they've done in the past).

    You mentioned that you got a $2000 bonus last year -- how did you spend that $2000?

    I got $50. I know that's not much to most/some. BUT, I had been at my new job 14 (working) days when I got it. I was expecting nothing at worst (not that it would have been a worst) and a $25 gift card (wishful thinking)at best. So no complaints here. Smile

    I hear you on hoping for a Christmas/end of year bonus. I have rarely been given one, but it was always a welcome surprise when it did happen regardless of how much it was. This year neither of my jobs are offering one, but since I am comfortably employed I'm content just being thankful for that. There's still about a week of the year left so hopefully your company will surprise you!
