Gas for $2.10!!!

December 15th, 2014 at 04:01 pm

I couldn't believe it when I drove by the gas station this morning. I hope it stays that low since I don't get paid until Thursday.

The paycheck stub from my second job posted yesterday(although we don't get paid until Thursday). It is for $50 more than I estimated. That is good because I went to the store and spent $30 yesterday. Was only going in for one thing! But I needed the rest of it for my breakfast/lunches at work. So I don't feel bad about spending it.

The gas prices are definitely going to be low for awhile. I'm sure glad it is helping you with your budget!

I'm wanting to praise you to the skies for taking on a 2nd job, making a plan and sticking to it since October, it's exhausting. Gas at the pumps are tracking down for political reasons and it offers wonderful opportunities to do small bites of catch up. I've no idea of what you prefer for home made breakfast & lunches to take so I hope it's okay to suggest 'batch' work. I've found it helpful to use muffin tins and those re-usable silicone muffin liners to create individual, takeaway servings for muffins, mini omelettes, meatloaf/muffin, chicken pot pie [Pillsbury tube buns]stew, bkfst oatmeal cookies, Chinese style rice. Would you be happy with wraps? Pita bread can be spread with anything you like, topped, layered, rolled, wrapped with paper to hold it's shape until lunch or break. They also split from bottom and can be stuffed with whatever's in the fridge.

I know it's one more chore but making a meal plan and conscientiously following it for 21 days made it a habit and I was shocked by how much difference it made to our budget. If you'll tolerate an outsider plan, try menuplan www.womensday.com and cherry pick the items you'll eat.

You're doing well staying on track and I hope we can offer ideas to make it easier.

My husbands boss is in the House of Representives and said a bill is being wrote up now to open the keystone pipeline for the Senate to vote on. He said gas should go down to a $1.xx a gallon.

Thank you Snafu! We have a full kitchen at work so I keep food here. I usually eat a toasted bagel for breakfast and a sandwich of some sort for lunch. I also keep drinks here. It has really helped on the spending to just having stuff here to eat.

Wow $2.10? That's amazing! Last time I filled up it was $2.63 which also isn't bad. I too am enjoying the lower prices so I can focus on other things.
