Insurance Increase

January 25th, 2013 at 08:13 pm

I just typed this post and lost it before I could post it.

I just got notice in the mail that the kids health insurance is going up by $60 a month. I am thrilled. I would love to figure out how to decrease this. I have tried to get a different policy but because she is under 18 there is only one policy and it doesn't offer any benefits until the high premium is reached, no office visits or prescriptions. I looked at getting a policy with me and her and I was denied due to all the medication I take. I just don't know how I can reduce this. If I add her to my policy at work it is about $800 per month. It is great insurance but it is real pricey. Any suggestions would be great.

I did a search for your state and found Peachcare for Kids...it does depend on income...not sure if you qualify. Here is a

link. This was a quick search. There may be other options.

Hi NGG, Insurance is so expensive... I would plan on budgeting the $60.00 increase into my budget. If there is no other plan that is available, i would plan on the increase. And, I would start that Emergency fund. If insurance increases again, it could come out of there. {Just in case.} Is this insurance from the children's insurance plan? I think it is called "CHIPS". Insurance costs are so high, I feel so bad for people who still have NO insurance.

CCF : We don't qualify for Peach Care anymore. We used to be on it. It was excellent insurance.

LR: I have asked her dad about his insurance at work and it is the same as mine.

Sorry about the increase...I think with the Obamacare, many are going to see hikes. I saw on the news where a retired doctor said her insurance premiums went up over 25% because of the new law and she said it was going to strap her...she didn't know how folks who didn't have savings would manage it if they were self insured.
