Free Lunch and Gift From Boss

January 4th, 2013 at 07:47 pm

My boss took us all out to lunch today for our Christmas/New Year lunch. We went to a place that is okay but not one of my favorites. The food is too fancy for me.

He also gave us a Christmas bonus. I got $200. It is in the form of AMEX giftcards. In the past my bank has cashed them in for me. I hope they still do that.

I really want to send the $200 to the hospital bill but I need it for February when I am short for my budget. What to do...I could probably make some changes to budget and move stuff around but I hate to do that. I will have to think about it.

I'd say keep them in the form of gift cards until February when you see how things shake out. Kind of like a mini emergency fund! If you don't need them, or all of them then send in to the hospital bill.

Glad you joined Swagbucks! I hope it works well for you. A good thing to do while you are watching all those football games. Smile

CCF... What do you do on Swagbucks to earn points? I don't understand the whole concept.

Why not use it to pay for gas? Or groceries? Whatever is in yor budget fir that amount, substitute it for the card.

You might join the Swagbucks page on Facebook, for hints and tips. You should download the toolbar, so that you get 1SB per day just when you log in. The toolbar also has a button to look for swag codes (usually one per day).

Actually, it is better to give you a link to site that can give you lots of tips:
Text is Swagging 101 and Link is https://sites.google.com/site/swagin101/

Congrats on the bonus! I would save them for a bit....in case any unexpected expenses pop up.

That is the one thing I miss about working at the oil and gas company .. the $200 Christmas bonus and being taken out to lunch at a NICE place for Admin Asst day (the whole office would go - the president would make sure they had a vege option for me. It's actually how I finally realized I DO like squash ...)

I'd save the cards too and see if you need them later.

I agree with everyone else. If you cash them I bet the bank takes a fee. Just use them like other said to pay for gas or food. And congratulations!

If you are using the cards to pay for stuff, I'd try to take that amount of money from checking and transfer it into savings if you can.
