THe upside to my car repair

August 3rd, 2012 at 03:17 pm

Since my car won't even be looked at until Monday, I won't have to use my gas budget this week. I might have to fill up on Wednesday, if I get my car back on Monday. But that is only going to be half of my gas budget for the week, probably even less.

I listed my DD's clarinet on Craiglist a couple of nights ago and have had no interest. I was hoping to unload that thing quickly.

I will likely have to go to the grocery store early next week for my frozen lunches and orange juice. PB&J's are good but they kill my points for the day.

To part with the clarinet, can you let contact the band director and have him send an email to someone who is renting an instrument? Just an idea!

I would suggest giving lots of details about the instruments and a picture. How long used? Does it need repair or tuning? Brand? Is case included and clean? I'd also consider dropping price a bit if you can. I would think this is a good time of year to have it listed with school starting relatively soon. Good luck!

Great idea Laura! I have called the school and left a message for the band instructor. I have tried this before and it never worked but it just might this time. I also have listed it on Ebay and Amazon. Hopefully between the three of them it will sell.

If you can walk to the grocery store this weekend you get the gas savings, a little bit of exercise and fresh air. Thoughts of having to lug something home means that you are less tempted to buy on impulse. Smile

You will probably have better luck waiting until about a week or two before school starts to sell the clarinet. Most parents put buying these things off and then are scrambling at the last minute to get their sixth graders equipped.

LuckyRobin is probably correct, some procrastinating parents will be very glad to have some insurance of someone selling a clarinet right before the school year begins, I bet! I hope it sells sooner, but as long as one of the avenues leads to a sale then you will be coming out ahead. Good luck!
