May Budget is Done

April 20th, 2011 at 07:45 pm

I have worked through my preliminary May budget. Things are really looking good. I really hope this renter pays on the first of each month. I will be looking pretty good if they do. I will actually be able to make my mortgage payment in the grace period instead of just short thirty days. Then maybe I can start giving my parents some money for my current house and electricity.

Good on you to have made progress 2010 and continuing to stick to the plan. I admire your for thinking ahead, developing your May budget, knowing there is a possibility it may need to adjust to cover everything.

Your comfort level would go up if you could make a small start on your Emergency Fund. Perhaps you could dump change in a jar daily as your 1st 'baby' step. We're all getting worried about price increases for gas, utilities, food and inflation.

I'm trying to shave 15% off our food budget as it is one segment that I can control. We've cut back on driving, errands are planned around other trips and even routes are considered. All winter we reduced 'phantom' electric by using power bars but I'm not convinced there was savings.

Congrats on getting new renters. If that works out smoothly then that won't be a stress for you each month.
